Dutch Champs '11

Last weekend the biggest kayak event in the Netherlands took place at the National Whitewater course. The event combines four whitewater disciplines freestyle, downriver, slalom and BoaterX. Many paddlers compete in more then one competition even if they never did this before. So imagine a freestyle boater in a downriver boat and a slalom paddler in a playboat, good fun!

Levelsix paddler Casper van Kalmthout took home gold for the fifth time in the freestyle very convincingly. I organised the freestyle competition for the first time which was pretty van to do, and it was actually one of the first freestyle competitions in the Netherlands then ran exactly on time:)

I got 2nd at the BoaterX right after the former Dutch Team Coach Rene Boom. To old still beat the young it seems! Thanks everyone who helped making the event a succes!

Cheers, Raoul
